Transitioning First Nations From Child Welfare Agencies to Prevention Focused Care
Providing consultations to First Nations communities as they transition in phases from provincial child welfare agencies to their own prevention-focused care.
DASH Counselling provides consultation, planning, and transition support to First Nations communities. Working collaboratively with leadership, service providers, and community members, we support local capacity, promote self-determination, and prioritize culturally grounded approaches.
Our services include:
- Community engagement and consultation
- Prevention-focused program development
- Capacity building and workforce development
- Change management and organizational readiness
- Policy and governance support
- Family preservation and reunification planning
- Integration of Indigenous cultural values, traditions, and community strengths into service delivery
Our goal is to help communities create sustainable child and family well-being systems that keep children safely connected to their families, culture, language, and community while reducing reliance on intervention-based child welfare practices.
DASH Counselling is committed to supporting First Nations autonomy in building community-driven services that promote the safety, well-being, and lifelong belonging of children and families.
